The Cry for Peace

It seems my cry has continually been, “Please bring peace, Lord!”

because of the tender mercy of our God, whereby the sunrise shall visit us from on high to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.

Luke 1:78-79

The lowly shepherds—the outcasts—sat waiting in darkness for the light.

And it came!

As a humble sinner, I receive the Good News! The Savior has come to lead me through the darkness of my real problems and the deepest longings of my soul.

His Spirit is mine!

He empowers me to master sins that are too much for my independent, wayward spirit to handle.

My peace comes within conflict and turmoil because of my relationship with you, my God.

All praise belongs to you, Jesus, who is the fullness of the glory of God! Peace is already mine! You have provided grace upon grace (as promised in John 1:14-17). My soul sings praise to you, Emmanuel!

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.

John 14:27
